This
is a tribute to the producer of the first seven Moody Blues concept
albums.
Tony Clarke was often regarded as the 'Sixth Moody' for his production
skills of the Moody Blues sound.
It
is the late 1970s when Mike and Tony went to the USA
and hence split with the remaining four Moodies who remained in
the UK.
The
painting shows the four Moodies in London, England and Mike 'Among
The Stars'.
TRIBUTE
TO TONY CLARKE
(Moody Blues Producer)
I was very sad to hear that Tony Clarke is no longer with us. I
had read how much he contributed as Producer to the beautiful arrangements
of sounds heard on the seven classic Moody Blues albums from the
late 1960's and early 1970's. Of course he became known as "The
Sixth Moody" as a result and this inspired me as a visual artist
to create an image depicting Tony in 1996 called THE SIXTH MOODY.
This was my tribute to him, when The Moody Blues split in the late
1970's.
I
knew how important he was to the Moody sound when his photograph
appeared alongside the five Moody musicians photographs On The Threshold
Of A Dream gatefold sleeve vinyl record in 1969. I do remember frequently
playing the now known, 'Seven Classic Albums' during the 1970's
because they were so good to listen to, with their peace, love and
harmony messages. So much so, that my vinyl recordings were wearing
out through constant playing on my Hi Fi music system. I gradually
replaced the recordings with CD's. Tony Clarke certainly influenced
my life.
