This is my tribute to Jon Pertwee who portrayed the Doctor superbly.
Despite losing Patrick ("how will he ever be replaced", I thought to myself at the time) we soon settled into Jon.

Added spice was supplied by the superb character actor Roger Delgado as The Master, also pictured.

I had to paint Katy Manning as Jo as she is one of my favourite companions.
Planet Of The Daleks is one of my favourite Pertwee stories.
There are other monsters to locate and identify in the eye of the beholder

Photographic material was sourced from Doctor Who Magazines and books, and of course ideas from watching Pertwee's Videos.

JON PERTWEE ( 1919 - 1996 )
A tribute by Malcolm Hunter

“My earliest film of any merit was Murder at the Windmill with Garry Marsh and Jimmy Edwards. It was about the Windmill Theatre and I played a detective. It was a good little film and made an awful lot of money.” JON PERTWEE

“He was a brilliant entertainer and I always felt he had more talent than ambition and never really made use of all that he had to offer.” LESLIE PHILLIPS

“I doubled for Danny Kaye in the film Knock on Wood. Danny was double booked. On the opening night (of) the film, a little Irish journalist went up to Danny Kaye and introduced himself. “I thought Jon Pertwee did very well for you,” he said. “Yes Jon did a great job.” JON PERTWEE

NOTE: After shooting Will Any Gentleman?, Jon, then under contract to Associated British Pictures Corporation, was to have starred in the comedy “The Baby and the Battleship” for the studio. His planned co-stars were fellow ABPC contract artist George Cole and the ubiquitous Sid James. Cole then went into dispute with ABPC and walked out of his contract. ABPC’s response was to cancel the picture and sell the script on to rival studio, British Lion. That company made the film in 1956 with John Mills in the George Cole role and Richard Attenborough in Jon’s part.

WANTED: If anybody can help me to track down video or DVD copies of any of the following of Jon’s movies: Will Any Gentleman ? (1953), The Ugly Duckling (1958), Runaway Railway (1965), I’ve Gotta Horse (1965), Four Against the Desert (1974), No. 1 of the Secret Service (1977) or knows of Pertwee movies not listed here please contact me at email address: malcolm.hunter@live.co.uk and I will get in touch as soon as possible. Thank you.
